Who follows the AIP Diet

PCP recommended

Most people who are following the AIP diet are doing so at the recommendation of their Primary Care Provider. The diet is recommended when the patient has and autoimmune disease such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, lupus, IBD (Crohn’s / Colitis), rheumatoid arthritis, or MS. PCPs use the diet to manage inflammation, reduce flare-ups, and heal the gut.

Other followers

Many followers of the AIP do so after research or recommendations from others. The diet has a proven record of improving gut health in people suffering from chronic fatigue, digestive issues, or joint pain. Most followers follow the three stages, eventually returning most foods to their diet while others will stay on the restricted or modified restricted plans because of the results.

The AIP diet is ideal for those seeking to “eat cleanly” because of the focus away from processed foods and trigger foods.
